HIKE AND PICNIC AT SHINLEAF PARK

Let’s hike for a couple of miles through the shaded trails of one of my favorite parks.  I love Shinleaf State Park because of its seclusion, its beauty, and it’s rarely crowded. The trails that pass through primitive campsites are quiet, peaceful, and have a nice view of the lake.  Our hike will last about an hour. We’ll hike either on Saturday, May 8, or Sunday, May 9, depending on the weather.

It’s important that you email the Coordinator if you will be attending, so updates, rescheduling, or cancellations can be given.  Also, as it gets closer to the day, we’ll determine if we hike on Saturday or Sunday.

Please keep at least six feet apart from anyone else during the hike.  Masks are optional since we are outside, but distance is a must.

Bring a picnic lunch for after our hike. We’ll eat at the picnic tables overlooking the lake.

Location: 13708 New Light Road, Wake Forest 27587

Where to meet: As you pull off New Light Road and into the park, we’ll meet in the first small parking lot on the left.  If that parking lot happens to be full, there’s another larger parking lot about a four-minute walk further down, also on the left.  Those two lots are the only parking lots in Shinleaf.  If you park in the larger lot, walk on down to the first little parking lot and meet us there.
